Siemens Healthineers commenced construction of a £250mm MRI superconducting magnet manufacturing plant in North Oxfordshire, England, set to be the first in the UK to use the company’s DryCool technology. This innovative technology dramatically reduces helium usage in MRI scanners from 1,500 litres (~40mcf) to less than one litre. The facility is expected to be operational by 2026 and will feature a research and development hub aimed at creating smaller, lighter whole-body scanners, and will employ advanced manufacturing automation to meet the growing global demand for MRI products.
