Flying Whales, in collaboration with Exel Composites, a Finnish industrial equipment manufacturer, is creating the LCA60T, a 200-metre-long helium-propelled vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) airship, designed to transport up to 60 tons of cargo, including construction materials, wind turbine blades, and portable hospitals to remote areas. The airship aims to reduce congestion at shipping ports and lower emissions compared to traditional transport methods. Flying Whales is among the few helium airship manufacturers such as Hybrid Air Vehicles, LTA, Aeros, etc that are working towards a resurgence in lighter than air vehicles. We believe this will be a major demand growth area for helium.
