Siemens Partnership with CHU de Nantes for Helium-Saving MRI

Siemens Healthineers and the University Hospital Nantes entered a €55mm, 12-year partnership to provide advanced imaging solutions across 13 hospitals in Loire-Atlantique, France. A key feature is the installation of helium-free MRI systems, reducing helium usage from hundreds of litres to less than one. While this represents progress in reducing helium demand, it does not result in significant helium savings overall, as we have discussed previously. The partnership also includes research collaboration, energy monitoring, and sustainable equipment upgrades, but the impact on global helium conservation, in our opinion, remains limited.
