In Q3’24, Renergen highlighted that it started production of liquid helium from its Virginia plant in Free State, South Africa. The company’s optimisation efforts have also reduced the time required for plant start-up and cooldown processes, thereby improving overall production efficiency. Two exploration wells (T4KK011 and T4KK011 REV) in South Africa’s Free State Province have confirmed high helium concentrations of 3.32% and 2.68% respectively, with flow rates exceeding 90mcf/d of raw gas. The discovery of additional faults highlights the increasing geological potential of the Western Structural Margin. It is not clear if these wells will form a part of the company's Phase 2 project or be added to Phase 1.
