Renergen Challenges SSPP's Breach of Helium Production Rights

Renergen raised concerns over Springbok Solar Power Plant (SSPP) commencing construction without obtaining the required Section 53 consent in an area covered by Renergen’s valid petroleum production right, held since 2012. Under the newly enacted Upstream Petroleum and Resources Development Act, helium is classified as an associated gas of petroleum, reinforcing Renergen’s claim that its rights extend to helium extraction within the disputed area.
