Linde filed a lawsuit against RusChemAlliance and Gazprom in New York, alleging illegal seizure of helium containers in Russia amidst an unrelated contractual dispute involving Linde GmbH. Linde states that Gazprom entities have retained Linde's helium containers as collateral in a conflict over halted gas plant projects following sanctions imposed due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The dispute dates back to a 2017 agreement where Linde shipped empty helium containers to be filled in Russia. Fires at Gazprom's plant and subsequent sanctions halted helium production, but Gazprom refused to return the containers. This seizure has financially impacted Linde Inc., forcing reliance on less efficient alternatives and increasing operational costs.
