Lancaster University completed upgrading its helium liquefaction plant, saving 100 MWh of electricity annually and reducing CO2 emissions by over 20 tonnes. The enhanced plant ensures uninterrupted operation of ultralow temperature research facilities in the Physics and Chemistry departments. The upgrade, funded by Research England, guarantees the longevity of the liquefaction plant, vital for ongoing world-class research.
