With the EU's Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) now in force, a helium project may be eligible for administrative, financial and offtake support. While quite a few countries have disregarded the importance of helium and excluded it from their critical mineral lists, including the US, the EU is recognising its importance. First, a project must be designated as a ‘Strategic Project’. The first call for applications is open and will close on 22 August 2024.
