A webinar hosted by Industrial Info Resources focused on developments in the global data centre and semiconductor markets. The session highlighted the dominance of Asian markets in semiconductor manufacturing; however, there is a notable shift to the US and Europe, spurred by subsidies, aimed at enhancing Western competitiveness. Interestingly, while China has been known for producing lower-end chips, Thailand is emerging as a supplier of high-end chips, which are crucial for advanced data processing applications like AI. This could position Thailand as a key player in meeting the increasing demand for AI chips. Major industry players, including Intel and TSMC, are also expanding their manufacturing capabilities in the US, indicating a robust growth trajectory for the semiconductor market. This expansion is expected to positively impact the helium market, given its essential role in the manufacturing process.
