US Plans for US$10bn in Subsidies for Semis. Manufacturing

Reports suggest that the Biden administration is in discussions to allocate over US$10bn in subsidies to semiconductor giant Intel, likely accelerating helium demand as semiconductors and chips heavily rely on helium in their manufacturing process. Negotiations are underway, and Intel's award package will likely include both loans and direct grants. Intel plans to use the subsidies to fund chip factories at longtime sites in Arizona and New Mexico, along with a new site in Ohio that Intel believes could become the world's largest chip plant.
