FDE Discovers 98% Natural Hydrogen in Eastern France

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

FDE, an independent multi-energy producer, discovered significant concentrations of natural hydrogen in one of its wells in Eastern France. FDE measured high levels of dissolved hydrogen in the Carboniferous aquifer at various depths. The measured concentration reached 15% at 1,093m depth and is estimated to be 98% at 3,000m depth. We believe that high concentrations of hydrogen are needed for a commercial project so this is very encouraging. FDE has applied for an exclusive mining exploration permit called the "Trois-Évêchés Permit" to explore natural hydrogen in the Lorraine mining basin, covering an area of 2,254 km². 45-8 is another company exploring for helium and natural hydrogen in France and across Europe.
