Exclusion of Helium in India's Updated Oilfield Regulations

The Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, 2024, modernises India's oil and gas regulatory framework to promote domestic exploration and notably expands the definition of "mineral oils" to include unconventional resources like shale gas and coal bed methane. However, helium is excluded from this updated definition, redirecting focus towards other hydrocarbons, while leaving helium's regulatory framework untouched.
