The cost of helium and increasing supply limitations has caused the chromatographic market to search for alternative carrier gases. Hydrogen and nitrogen are two of the alternatives being explored to reduce reliance on helium. In a roundtable discussion, experts discussed how consolidation to helium as the gas chromatography (GC) carrier gas of choice arose, and the potential impact of helium reliance on the analytical testing market.
