Blue Star Helium (BNL) is advancing its Serenity prospect located in Las Animas, Colorado for a CO2 development project. The company selected an initial small-scale, low capex development (~US$1.3mm), targeting first production of beverage-grade CO2 in H1’25. A chilled distillation system will produce high-purity liquid CO2, processing ~500mcf/d of raw gas from an initial two-well development programme, yielding between 20-25t/d of beverage-grade CO2. Discussions with several process facility suppliers are underway. BNL’s Sammons 315310C well at Serenity, previously drilled, tested, and proven, is currently suspended pending tie-in to the production facility. Lab analysis of reservoir samples revealed an average composition of ~99% CO2, ~1% nitrogen, and 0.09% helium (non-commercial concentration), all within the lower Lyons reservoir. Flow testing reported gas rates up to 500mcf/d. On successful development of the initial facility, BNL expects to be able to develop 18 further locations at Serenity. The company has three additional drilling locations awaiting final approvals, with plans to drill a second well and complete the existing Sammons well for production ahead of the initial facility installation.
