Top End Energy acquired what it sees as highly prospective acreage in the Northern Territory of Australia from Hancock Prospecting, to explore for natural hydrogen and helium, along with conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons. Prior to this, Top End was successful with another permit on the Amadeus Basin - Area L22-6. The permits, which cover a combined area of 6.9mm acres across the Beetaloo and South Nicholson basins, are identified for their potential in natural hydrogen and helium, particularly in EP153 and 154. Top End also received firm commitments to raise A$2.1mm for near-term exploration activities and anticipates providing updates on its plans following transaction completion. Other than Top End, Central Petroleum is planning a three-well exploration program starting this year with Santos to pursue helium, natural gas and naturally occurring hydrogen beneath the sub-salt seals of the Amadeus Basin although this is delayed after some financing issues.
