For more than a year, the fate of the Federal Helium Reserve, one of the world’s largest suppliers of helium, has been uncertain. Scientists have urged the government to keep the reserve, as it is a critical resource for a host of industries ranging from medical technology to rocket science. Last week, the US Geological Survey released a notice for public comments on the risk of helium-supply disruption.
