TBH2 Aquitaine, under the Sauve Terre H2 project, has secured a five-year permit to explore natural hydrogen in Béarn des Gaves and Soule, France. Initial studies involve placing sensors to record natural microseisms for subsurface imaging, with additional truck-generated vibrations scheduled for Sep'24 to gather more data. Future 3D seismic surveys are planned for 2025 to assess the potential of hydrogen and helium systems in the region. If successful, the extracted hydrogen could be transported via existing infrastructure to the Lacq basin for further use. FDE and 45-8 Energy are two other companies pursuing natural hydrogen exploration in France.
