Storengy, a subsidiary of the French utility company - Engie Group, partnered with Morocco's National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) to explore natural hydrogen potential in the coastal Meseta region, encompassing the Berrechid, Ben Slimane, and Doukkala basins. The project aims to capitalise on Morocco's natural hydrogen resources, identified through in situ measurements revealing hydrogen concentrations up to 1.17% in the Laayoune - Sakia El Hamra region (note: these concentrations are considered non-commercial). In Dec'23, Morocco partnered with a Swiss company to explore for natural hydrogen in the region.
