Shanghai Electric commissioned the world's first nuclear power plant utilising "Gen IV" nuclear power technology, powered by High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor Pebble-bed Module (HTR-PM). The project generates power through the conversion of nuclear, heat, mechanical and electricity power, stated a release. It is in Shandong province and is reliant on helium as a crucial component in various aspects, including primary helium fans and compressors. Since China does not have any domestic helium production, it relies on imports to meet demand. We see HTR-PM as a growth avenue for helium in the coming years.
