Saskatchewan Helium and Brine Mineral Tenure Policy Update

Effective October 16, 2023, the policy allows Crown disposition holders with rights to either helium and associated gases or brine minerals to consent to overlapping tenure of the other commodities in the same land location, provided they submit a consent letter to the Ministry of Energy and Resources. The letter must specify the extent of overlapping tenure permitted. This update is a part of the Guidebook for Lithium from Formation Water (mineral brine) Exploration and Operations that the government of Saskatchewan previously released in Aug'22.
