Ontario Hospitals Seems to be Managing Fine Amid the Qatari Disruption

London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and St. Joseph's Health Care London in Ontario, Canada reported no impact on MRI operations or patient care from the global helium shortage following the US-Iran war, with both hospitals having taken proactive steps to secure additional supply. LHSC noted that modern sealed and recirculating MRI systems reduce helium loss versus older-generation machines that needed routine top-ups, with material helium release typically confined to rare quench events. Ontario's Ministry of Health has not been notified of any provincial patient-care or hospital-operations impacts to date.
