A new research explores a novel approach to extracting helium from natural gas, combining an improved cryogenic process with a 2-bed 6-step pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technique, significantly enhancing efficiency and reducing energy consumption by 31.6%. Aimed at addressing the challenges of high costs and complexity associated with traditional methods, this method simplifies the extraction process and utilises returned LNG as a cooling source, reducing nitrogen circulation. By optimising key parameters, this technique achieves a helium purity of 99.999% from natural gas with a helium volume content of 0.31%, marking a significant advancement in the field of helium extraction technology.
