Kinectrics, a provider of testing and engineering services to the electricity industry in the US, has acquired 15 acres of land in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, for the development of the Helius campus, focusing on clean energy innovation. The site's first project is a Helium Test Facility (HTF) supporting X-energy's Xe-100 advanced small modular reactor as part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. This facility will offer a unique high-temperature, high-pressure, high-purity helium test environment and is set to begin operations by the end of 2025. This announcement highlights the potential for helium demand growth from small scale nuclear fission.
