The helium shortage has affected divers who rely on the non-narcotic and lightweight gas for deep diving, causing technical dive shops around the world to raise prices, limit fills, or stop selling trimix altogether. The highest reported helium price was in Bonaire, where helium costs as much as US$4,000/mcf and is expected to rise. There is a very wide range of pricing with points to the opaque nature of the market.
