After last month’s news about Helium One’s discovery of 2.2% He at Tai-1, Tanzania, the company has encountered another significant gas show above its primary target zone. Helium was detected between 552m-561m, and observed visually at the surface as bubbles in the drilling mud. Although to formally confirm the discovery, more direct methods such as wireline logging and testing will have to be conducted. Helium One also had a setback while reaching its target as a drill pipe was lost into the hole and the contractor, unable to retrieve the pipe, had to sidetrack the well.
