French aerospace startup Flying Whales announced plans to establish its final production facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), for its LCA60T unmanned cargo airship, aiming to supply the Middle East, India, and Africa by 2027. The announcement was made during the COP28 climate change summit in Dubai. The LCA60T will use hydrogen fuel cells to power a series of electric motors and will be lifted by 6.3mmcf of helium (each one is >0.1% of annual global demand). The airship's first flight is anticipated next year, with potential commercial deployment by late-2026 or early-2027, following regulatory certifications from the FAA and EASA.
