Following the discovery of natural hydrogen deposits in France by FDE, European countries are ramping up exploration efforts, with France leading the way through substantial investments and the issuance of exploration permits. Other nations, including Germany, Spain, and Albania, are also pursuing projects, driven by the potential of natural hydrogen as a cost-effective and less carbon-intensive energy source. The EU’s Clean Hydrogen partnership plans to support these efforts with a continent-wide mapping study, aiming to integrate natural hydrogen into its green taxonomy and streamline administrative processes for future exploration.
