EU Drafts Crisis Powers to Shield Chip Supply from Future Helium Disruption

The European Commission is set to present its Chips Act 2.0 package in early June, including sweeping crisis powers that would let it trigger a formal “crisis stage” during severe shortages of helium and other crisis-critical products, force semiconductor manufacturers to prioritise orders for crisis-critical products over existing private contracts and fine companies up to €300k for withholding or providing misleading information.
