According to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), critical mineral and renewable energy producers will spend C$730mm this year in developing hydrogen, geothermal, lithium and helium resources. That’s a nearly 250% increase from 2020, and it’s expected to continue rising. Annual spending on emerging resources in Alberta is projected to reach C$840mm in 2032, or a total of about C$9bn over the next decade.
