Chinese helium imports in August were ~93mmcf (up 38% y/y and 57% m/m) reaching the highest ever level seen, with record imports from Qatar (80mmcf). Some of this may be explained by timing of cargoes slipping into August from July given the big jump m/m. However even on 3-month average basis volumes are up 16% y/y. The average helium price in August was US$431/mcf, which is 30% higher y/y. Also of note, there was one cargo from the US that sold for >US$1,300/mcf.
