The Critical Minerals Processing Investment Incentive (CMPII) is a new program set to be announced as part of Saskatchewan's 2024-25 budget. This program is designed to encourage investment in the processing of critical minerals within Saskatchewan by offering financial incentives to businesses. The CMPII aims to complement the existing Saskatchewan Critical Minerals Innovation Incentive (SCMII) by providing transferable tax credits to eligible greenfield or brownfield value-added processing projects. These projects can span across various segments of Saskatchewan's critical minerals industries, including helium. The incentive offers a 15% credit on eligible costs associated with these projects, thereby lowering the financial barriers to entry and encouraging the development and expansion of critical minerals processing in the region.
