Alaska Explores Potential for Natural Hydrogen at UAF Workshop

Alaska is assessing its natural hydrogen potential, with over 100 industry, government, and academic experts who gathered at UAF’s Geologic Hydrogen Workshop 2024 to discuss exploration, regulation, and commercial viability. ARPA-E is funding US$20mm across eight US states for hydrogen stimulation and engineering but not direct exploration. Alaskan companies are self-funding research, but uncertain regulations, land ownership issues and high exploration costs remain key challenges.
