AKAP Energy’s comments about the sectors that would be first affected by the US-Iran conflict were recently featured in the Wall Street Journal. AKAP believes that the first victims are going to party balloons but clearly taking a third of global supply off the market overnight will cause significant impact across the board. The article also covered Airgas’ force majeure which would only meet up to 50% of a customer's normal monthly helium demand due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict. In a letter to its customer, Airgas mentioned that it would be adding a surcharge of US$135/mcf to its deliveries. This shortage poses a critical risk to industries reliant on helium, such as semiconductor manufacturing and medical imaging, leading to concerns about production bottlenecks across multiple sectors.
