45-8 Energy is planning to produce helium in Fonts Bouillants, located 250 km south of Paris. Despite low helium concentrations (lower than the usual cut-off for profitability) with 0.043% helium, the company plans to commence pilot production in May 2024. The prospect, linked to the Saint Parize fault, exhibits a distinct gas composition of 93% CO₂ and 7% N₂. By separating and selling the CO₂ to local industries, 45-8 Energy aims to turn a profit, showcasing innovative approaches to helium extraction in unique geological settings.
