Japan has witnessed a 25% m/m drop in import volumes of helium in July. Although volumes from the US are low, the major contributor to the decline is Qatari volumes, which have fallen from 17mmcf in June to 11mmcf in July. This is most likely due to lower production volumes from Qatar or could be timing effects (e.g. high volumes at end June). It could also mean volumes being diverted to other countries which we will be tracking over the coming months.
