An interesting article by space news paints a picture of what’s going on with lunar exploration. The article states how a new race to the Moon is unfolding — not to plant flags, but to extract helium-3, water and other strategic resources, establish lunar nuclear power and secure long-term economic and geopolitical influence. Private companies are now at the forefront: in Sep’25, Bluefors agreed to buy up to 1,000 litres of lunar helium-3 annually from Interlune for US$300mm, underscoring its growing role as both a fusion fuel and a critical cooling agent for quantum computing. Blue Origin’s Project Oasis followed soon after, mapping lunar resources from orbit to support future mining operations.
