A pioneering MRI scanner developed in Bengaluru, India, by Voxelgrids Innovations is set to address the global helium shortage by utilising liquid nitrogen instead of helium for cooling. This innovation enables MRI machines to be more cost-effective and accessible, significantly reducing scanning costs and making them more available to patients. The new scanners are also expected to be 40% cheaper than conventional models.
