The global helium market is growing steadily, due to its many uses in a wide range of industries, from healthcare to electronics. Demand has been fuelled by a shortage caused by supply disruptions, and helium prices have risen accordingly. Nigeria has the potential to become a major helium producer, due to the presence of its six gas plants. This article outlines the different sources of helium, the geology of helium formation, and the potential of Nigeria's helium resources.
