All the Asian countries saw a surge in helium import pricing in Q4'22, with Taiwan no exception. Taiwanese pricing hit US$517/mcf in December, driven by increased pricing from Qatar. The average import price for 2022 was US$427/mcf, an 8% y/y increase, while volumes increased by 9% y/y to almost 400mmcf. Almost 80% of imports came from Qatar, even though US exports have regained some market share after the US BLM restart in H2'22. 2022 imports from Qatar increased 59% y/y, whilst US imports fell 38% and Australian 67%. Pricing from Qatar in particular has spiked up November and December with imports into Keelung reaching almost $600/mcf.
