Reported US Helium Data Quality seems to be Improving

We have closely been tracking the US helium trade flows and our analysis showed that the data reported by the US was flawed and majorly overstated the actual trade flows. This held true for imports as well as exports. One of our checks involved comparing the data reported by the US versus the data reported by the US' trading partners. The divergence was almost 3x until Q1'22, post which it has reduced to almost zero through the rest of 2022. Looking at the US helium export data, from April 2022 onward, we have noticed that volumes have aligned with the data reported by the US' trading partners.
