Kirkwood Oil and Gas LLC has submitted comments to the USGS to address possible helium supply disruptions. The Company believes that the Federal Register notification focuses too much on the demand side of the equation, and thus does not take into account the limited supply. Kirkwood has invested in three wells in southeastern Utah that have yet to sell gas or helium, and is concerned about the long and tedious process of getting the necessary approvals from BLM. It encourages the USGS to explain to BLM that data collection is impossible if its administration of the oil and gas leasing program is too restrictive, and to recognise helium as a critical mineral.
