The Government of India has approved a ~US$ 10 bn (INR 760 bn) scheme to boost semiconductor manufacturing, to promote India as a global hub for hi-tech production, and attract large chip makers. This would help in furthering India's goal of "self-reliance" in electronics manufacturing and create 150,000 job opportunities.
