The Vertical Test Area (VTA) at the U.S. Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility has hit a milestone with 470 superconducting radiofrequency accelerator cavity tests conducted in 2022. This record was made possible due to increased demand, as well as improvements in planning, scheduling and prioritizing. The VTA has eight dewars ranging from 16 to 34 inches across and 6 to 11 feet deep, and can hold between 150 and 1,200 litres (4-32 mcf) of liquid helium.
