Space mining has gained traction as a promising avenue for resource extraction, especially helium-3 on the Moon. Industry leaders like SpaceX and Blue Origin are actively developing technologies to make space mining more feasible and cost-effective. Challenges persist in identifying mineral-rich asteroids and ensuring operational efficiency and safety. Legal and ethical considerations, including the equitable utilisation of space resources, remain areas of concern. The Artemis Accords aim to establish a cooperative framework for the responsible and peaceful utilisation of space resources.
